Happy Halloween!

I will be the first to admit that this is just a repost from last year...that what happens when you don't get it together...but I still think the pictures are funny, so here you go!

I hope that your Halloween is filled with candy and treats, and children who enjoy their sugar induced comas...and since I have to work tonight, I hope that mine is filled with new people who make a grand entrance with enough time for their parents to stuff them into their 'first costume'...

**********

I adore holidays - that should come as no surprise. I love the decorating, the celebrating, the whole thing. I won't go so far as to say that Halloween is my favorite holiday, but I still enjoy it quite a bit.

And so I offer you a montage of Halloween - mostly from long ago. Although I do not have access to pictures from every year (because most are at my parents house several hours away), I did manage to find a few gems...

Like my very first Halloween - I was an angel. Obviously my true nature was clear, even from a young age.

Angel Maggie
You might think that I was crying because I wasn't excited about the holiday. You would be wrong - I was really crying because I was coming to the realization that my parents were incredibly dorky.

If you realized that you came from that, you would probably be crying too.
And while I am obviously always an angel, I don't always dress as one.
Sometimes I'm an artist.

Or Snow White.

Being Snow White clearly started a trend, as I have been known to dress as a Disney Princess on more recent occasions as well.

And although I am sure that you are quite distressed that you have missed my full Halloween history, perhaps it will be something to look forward to next year. And I will also leave you with a shining example of why I am forced to spoil my pets the majority of the year. Because on certain occasions I can be totally cruel to them.
Pumpkin Joey
Can you tell how excited he is to be dressed as a pumpkin?
And my personal favorite - the Halloweenies!

Best Shot Monday: Accomplishments

It seems that when you get to be an adult, the accomplishments are somewhat fewer and farther between than when you were little. Or maybe they aren't, only less celebrated. The big ones still are - babies, marriages, graduations - but there isn't really a celebration for managing to complete the everyday business of being a grown up. No one tells you that you did a good job when you folded the laundry, or claps for you when you manage to show up on time AND with an outfit that is clean (although if your outfit also matches and is ironed, then sometimes there is a bit of clapping - after all, major accomplishments should always be noted).

It never really bothers me that the general business of living isn't acknowledged -- I go on about my business, and that's just fine with me.

But Saturday? Saturday deserved a bit of clapping. I finished a half marathon.

I finished a half marathon with almost no preparation (which, by the way, is NOT a method that I recommend).

And I was even lucky enough to have some friends there to cheer me (and the other girls running with me) on. Which deserves some clapping too, since it was not only early on a Saturday morning, but COLD.

So these are my best shots from last week. Because this? This was the best thing I have done in a long time. And it deserved a little bit of clapping.

Theme Thursday: Sunshine

I think that most of these are repeats, but I am totally running on empty at the moment and I haven't had time to go out and shoot some new sunshine shots this week, even though the weather has been amazingly beautiful. Or at least it looks that way through the window!

The Post I Should Have Put Up A Month Ago

Let me be the first to admit that I am currently sucking just a bit when it comes to getting everything finished. Which is why, while I should have posted this a month ago, I am just now getting it done. Sorry Becky!

But now, look at this wonderful surprise that came in my mailbox, after I won Becky's Pay-It-Forward contest!

PIF Prize (2)

TWO pairs of knitted slipper socks to keep my feet toasty warm -- and they are so soft!

PIF Prize (3)

Waterproof matches in a cute little container, to light candles with for when I go camping again.

PIF Prize (4)

Yummy candy and a great new book to curl up with (while wearing my slipper socks!)

PIF Prize (5)

More yummy sweet treats!

PIF Prize

And how cute are these notecards?!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Becky -- your PIF prize was just what I needed in the middle of a busy week. And Mommy Daisy, YOUR package is in the mail -- and I am so sorry for the delay!

I am still going to have my 3rd and final (at least for now!) Pay It Forward contest, so stay tuned!
