SOOC Saturday -- Snow Day!

The fantastic Melody has returned, and brought with her the return of SOOC Saturday! And since I have been up since the ass crack of dawn bright and early time of 5:30 am, I figure it's more than worth a study break to join in on the fun.

It has been a snowy winter here in the great midwest, much like the rest of the country. And while I get a little tired of all the snow coverage on TV -- because while we don't always get much, it does snow every year multiple times -- I do love how peaceful fresh snow is.

Because really -- doesn't everything look better under a soft blanket of fresh fallen snow?

It's All in the Numbers

3 - the number of nights in a row I have worked.

0.5 - the number of nights I have left to work until I get a three days off from work.

7 - the number of fantastic coworkers I've worked with the last three days.

4 - the number of times I changed my clothes on Saturday, over the course of my shift.

3 - the total number of showers involved in above shift (before, during, and after).

250-ish - number of babies we've delivered so far this month.

1 - number of totally crazy patients this weekend who have honestly shocked me with their supreme amount of crazy.

3 - number of tea bags needed for the perfect dose of Yogi Bedtime Tea to knock out my insomniac self. Seriously, try it...it is AMAZING.

Best Shot Monday: Back to the Daily Grind

Aug 25

And it's over...despite the snow, ice and FRIGID temperatures, Christmas break is over and it's time to go back to school...

So answer me this, why does break time always go some much faster than school time?!

Hope everyone's 2010 is off to a fantastic start!

The Little Things

I LOVE Christmas. I love the whole season - the decorations, the cards, the gifts, the parties, the celebrations, the hustle and bustle...I look forward to it every year.

Since no one seems to give out calendars to newborns, we're a 24/7 operation. Which includes holidays - and this year, Christmas Eve was mine. My mom still has a hard time grasping the concept of why everyone needs to take their turn working holidays, but that's a different story.

It might not sound like fun, working on Christmas Eve - and during a blizzard no less - while everyone else is celebrating with their families. But fun or not, yesterday being at work was exactly where I was supposed to be.

Her 90 minutes were spent with her family, making her know just how very loved and cherished and beautiful she was. And that deserves to be preserved and remembered. Given the combination of the weather and the holidays, there wasn't an actual photographer available.

But since I was working, my schedule was wide open.

There are other places that might have been more fun than work on Christmas Eve, but I'm still pretty sure that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

I hope that your holidays are filled with love, laughter, family, friends, and that the season shines for you in a million small and beautiful ways...Merry Christmas!
