Swistle had the fantastic idea of organizing a whole mess of Pay It Forward Contests.
What? You don't know what a Pay It Forward Contest is? Allow me to explain. It's a contest. If you win, then you hold your own contest and send a prize to your winner. Etc, etc, etc. Not too hard. And also, fun for everyone, because who doesn't like to win things?!
That's what I thought...everyone likes to win things!
So, on to the contest!
To enter, leave a comment on this post by 11:00 CST, on Friday, July 4th. One entry per person, please. The winner will be selected using random.org, and be notified via email and announced in a post on Sunday, July 6th.
Oh, wait - you want to know what you can win in this contest? Well, you are a needy bunch! But I will indulge you anyway. I'm thoughtful like that.
An assortment of notecards and birthday cards:
Cute post it notes:
*please do not hold the quality of any of these photos against me - it's 2:30 am and I will take better photos when I am not half asleep*
And some other surprise things too -- it will make for a fun little prize, I promise!
So, enter away! And, if you are so inclined, tell me your favorite guilty pleasure to watch on tv.
Go ahead, don't be shy -- there's no judgement here. Seriously, there isn't - I watch Dr. 90210. And if that doesn't assure you that I won't judge you and your tv watching habits, then I don't know what will.
*Comments are now closed. Winner to be announce soon!*

Contest Time!
Best Shot Monday - Looking Back
This weekend I took a spur of the moment road trip to visit an old friend from high school. Mostly because this is the last weekend that I won't have any studying to do...for the next five years.
So this week's best shot is looking back. Because while looking forward is important, sometimes it's important to look back at where you've come from too.
Tracey is on vacation this week, so head to Melody's for this week's Best Shot Monday!

As Requested: Photo Details
Kimberly asked in the comments, and a few others have emailed me and asked for the specifics on this shot, so here you go:
Shutter Speed: 1/100 sec.
f/1.8
50mm
ISO 800
And in the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that I was on my way home in the midst of a tornado warning, and had the camera out in an attempt to get a good shot of a rather impressive cloud line in the distance. This shot was taken haphazardly on the highway - I just held the camera up and shot out the windshield - and I really like how it turned out. So there you have it - the details of my lucky shot!

Food Friday: Breakfast Pizza
Anna always has great and yummy looking things for Food Friday, and when I see her posts I always think "I should post something". And then another week goes by and the process repeats. But today I have a recipe to share too!
Breakfast pizza is something that almost everyone will eat - it's quick and easy, and can be served for brunch or for dinner.
Ingredients:
1 tube crescent rolls
1 lb sausage
frozen hashbrowns
8 0z shredded cheddar cheese
5 eggs
salt
pepper
milk
parmesan cheese
Directions:
1. Spread crescent rolls in bottom of pizza pan to form a crust. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Brown and drain sausage, then put on top of crescent roll crust. Top with frozen hasbrowns spread out in an even layer (amount used will vary, I usually use about 1/3 of a bag). Add shredded cheddar cheese.
3. Mix eggs with small amount of milk and season with salt and pepper as desired - pour mixture on top of pizza.
4. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and bake for about 30 minutes.

Theme Thursday - What I Want
This week's theme at Stacy's is What I Want. And, since she asked, here's what I want:
A D300. Oh, how I drool over that beautiful camera.

Crafty Tuesday: Birthday Cards
I haven't done much craftiness, but I did manage to whip up a few birthday cards this weekend...
They're a bit plain, but cute...right?!
For some impressive craftiness, check out what Carrie's been working on...her craftiness will amaze you!

Best Shot Monday - Pool Time!
Summer is in full swing, which means (among other things) some serious pool time! I might have a snowballs chance in hell of tanning not become a bronze beauty, but with SPF 50 some sunscreen even I can enjoy some fun in the sun... Although don't worry, there aren't any pictures of that to be shared.
And so one of our many pool outings has provided me with my shots for BSM (I just couldn't pick a favorite):

Best Shot Monday - Barn Edition
So I have made it through the first 24 weeks of Project 365 and not re-used any of the exact same shots. But I am way to tired to process the 700 shots I took this week that have yet to be touched, so I am reusing the shot from June 13 as my BSM.
I'm not sure why I like it so much -- I actually just held up the camera and clicked the shutter while I was driving down the interstate on the way out of town for the weekend. I guess sometimes you just get lucky!
For more great shots, head to Tracey's!

Theme Thursday - Wildlife
This week's theme at Stacy's is WILDLIFE. And while, at least on some days, the boys themselves qualify, I have more than enough zoo pictures that fit the bill on this one.

Things That Make Me Twitch
*the dentist. Thinking about it, hearing about it, the whole idea of it. Just....ick.
*Adult women with long hair who wear pigtails. I have no explanation for this, but it makes me crazy. Pigtails are no longer okay once your age reaches double digits...especially when the first of those digits isn't 1.
*Knee socks. I can't see them without having some sort of late 90's Britney Spears flashback.
*Crocs. I HATE those things. Why, you ask? I have no explanation for that either. But that doesn't keep me from hating them anyway. Hey, I never claimed to make sense.
*The fact that I can't run across The Bachelor on TV without watching. I just love that stupid show. But why? They never almost never end up together in the end. And yet I watch. Even when I know what happens in the end, I watch. The current marathon on VH1 is NOT good for my productivity. A not so interesting factoid? Even though I love The Bachelor, I have a somewhat intense dislike for The Bachelorette.
*The fact that although Bennett is very difficult to understand speech-wise, one of the things that he can say with startling clarity is BOOBS. Which is usually exclaimed while attempting to poke mine. Just to see if they are still there. Or to offer up a quick anatomy lesson. Or whatever. Which only seems to happen while in a check out lane at Target or the library or some other place where everyone else is mostly silent and I am unable to shrivel up and die hide from the chuckles of strangers.
*Doing dishes. It's actually not even the washing of dishes that is the issue. It's that I don't like putting them away. That's right, my issue isn't with the dirty dishes....it's with the clean ones.

Best Shot Monday - City of Fountains
Kansas City is known as the City of Fountains - it is said that there are more fountains here than in any other city in the world.
I'm not sure if there are more fountains, but we sure do have some that are a lot of fun! This is the fountain at Crown Center - they are perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day!
And playing in fountains wasn't just for the little kids. I just might have gotten soaked myself. And was the only one without a change of clothes. And it was totally worth it.
And it was also the source of my best shot from last week:

**Credit for some of these shots goes to Sarah -- I'm not sure who took what while we were there, but I know that she was the one responsible for a good portion of them! Thanks Sarah!
